Gibson’s Firebird X

For the weekend, I thought that I would take this time to express some of my thoughts on Gibson’s new guitar: the Firebird X. I have never tried out this guitar personally, but I have seen many videos and demos that have caused me to formulate my own opinions of the guitar.

Here are some of the best reviews/demos I have found on the guitar itself. After, I will explain my thoughts…

(This is a good  of a guy showing off some sounds from the Firebird X.)

(The video here is a demo from the guys at NAMM.)

(Gibson’s introduction of the Firebird X)

If you watched the videos above, you will probably agree that the guitar has some interesting features. The features are definitely new to the “guitar world”. I have already formed my own opinions on the guitar though…

Categorizing Tasks

I have been extremely busy with tasks the past week. I have more school assignments due this week than I probably will have until I get into graduate school (I might even have less then…).

This Friday and Saturday, I have a test in every class as well as papers for a few classes. On top of that, I have little lab reports and assignments to turn in on Monday. It is a lot. With all of that, I have the SAT to take this Saturday! It is a lot, but I read something this morning from Michael Hyatt’s blog that really helped me get many things done today. He talked about the Franklin-Covey method for categorizing tasks:

A—urgent and important
B—important but not urgent
C—urgent but not important
D—not urgent or important

It is very simple to remember and put into practice. The important thing is to stay focused on a task until it is completed. It has been proven that multi-tasking accomplishes very little.

If You Lack Wisdom…

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Book Review: I Am A Follower

The book, “I Am A Follower” by Leonard Sweet is an interesting book. His tagline is: the way, the truth, and the life of following Jesus. That basically sums up the topics in his book, however, he mentions so much more. I can honestly say that book is something far different from what i have normally read. We all strive to have great leadership characteristics that God would want us to, but how about possessing great “followership” characteristics? This is exactly what is presented in this book.

“I Am A Follower” has four sections: Vece (the place), Via (the way), Verita (the truth), and Vita (the life).

Leonard Sweet, who is a Professor of Evangelism out of New Jersey, talks about how we should be great followers. He says that Jesus is the ultimate leader, and we should all be following Him. The author shows many Scripture verses to support this “forgotten” concept. I think that this book presents an incredible message. So many time, we get caught up in how to be a “great” leader. Instead, we need to learn how to become a better follower of Christ.

Guest Post: Just Little Compromises…?

[This post is a part of guest post Fridays here on the blog. If you are interested in guest posting on this site, please let me know in the comments, and I will get back with you!]

I’m excited to share a guest post from one of my friends from my youth group. Her name is Aislinn. She is a passionate follower of Jesus, and this is her first “official” blog post!

So I’m just going to talk about what’s been on my heart lately. For the past few months, I have noticed that girls or guys change themselves their appearance/actions for the other sex. Before you know it, you start to act more like the world instead of a Christ-follower. I’m not saying that the lost people shouldn’t change some habits for Christians. They do not know Jesus. Without Jesus, it is natural to sin and not even put much thought into it. I’m mainly talking about seeing girls/guys be all “holy” at church, but when they are around “wordly people”, they flip and act as if God isn’t even real. The sad thing is that society is now saying that it’s okay to listen to some worldly music, movies, and television shows. It is almost as if Christians do not even know what is right or wrong anymore.
